Tattoo artist
Alex Heisler's bio ~

•How long have you been tattooing?: Since May 2016
•What’s your favorite type of tattoo to do?: The permanent kind.
It’s hard for me to narrow down a favorite style, though I greatly enjoy doing tattoos around people’s interests or memories.

•What’s something you wish more clients knew?: How impactful it is to us that people trust us with their precious memories, bodies, and ideas. I often think about events people have shared that they are excited or nervous for, fears that they are facing, and massive moments in their life.
•What do you love most about your job?: When people feel strong and confident with themselves for going through the process. I love how transformative this career is. People get tattoos and piercings for many reasons, including to feel more connected with how they see themselves in their bodies. We have a way of “getting underneath the skin” and finding a way to transmute how someone experiences the parts of their body they are wishing to adorn or accentuate. The environment we curate is perfect for providing that moment of someone consenting to facing pain in a safe, inclusive, and respectful space. We then share the tools to care for and watch this new part of them heal. That experience usually follows people throughout their lives.
•How did you get started in the industry?: My mom got a tattoo on her back when I was about 12, and it unlocked a deep interest for the art, which then developed into an obsession with the craft. My apprenticeship started in spring of 2014 with my mentor in North Dakota. I began tattooing clients in 2016, lived some life, then relocated to Montpelier, VT in 2021.
•What's your coffee order?: Hot chocolate or an iced matcha latte.
•What’s something you collect?: Gnomes, mushrooms, rocks, bones, and blue deft.
•What's your hidden talent?: I am ridiculously flexible.
•If you could have any superpower what would it be?: Either understanding and communicating in any language, or rapid healing self and others.
•What's your favorite smell?: Eucalyptus + mint, coffee, wet brown paper towels, my coworker’s cooking, green soap, the top of my cat’s head, chocolate, the forest after it rains.
